They aren’t the only team to get this far, though, with Manchester United (2008/09) and Chelsea (2006/07) almost claiming the incredible piece of history.But how did they do City compare with previous attempts?We go back in time to look at all the occasions when sides have failed in their quest to bring home the magic four, in terms of silverware.

Manchester City this season (2018/19)

On May 18 they will take on Watford in the FA Cup final, and they’ll also be hoping to make an appearance in the Champions League final at the Wando Metropolitano on June 1.They must get past Premier League rivals Tottenham in the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite competition if they are to keep alive those hopes, though.

Manchester City (2013/14)

A matter of days later and the club’s Champions League dreams were over too – as Barcelona progressed to the quarter-finals at their expense with a 4-1 aggregate win.Under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini, who now manages West Ham United, City did win the Premier League and the League Cup that season.

Manchester United (2008/09)
